Open Dollar

A stablecoin lending protocol that introduced Non-Fungible Vaults, letting users borrow OD stablecoins against their staked Ethereum.

Led brand and product design, working closely with leadership and engineering. I facilitated the name-finding and brand design as a company-wide effort, then established the design principles and processes that made the hand-off to development routine.

On the product side I defined features and requirements with engineering and iterated across releases, designed and built the landing pages in Webflow, and built the interactive Non-Fungible Vault visualization in SVG, JavaScript and CSS.

Brand

The name came out of a company-wide search, and the mark states it literally — an open circle around a solid dollar. Three lock-ups: the light one on white and on the deep navy that carries most of the product, and a greyscale for everything else.

Business cards — the fluid rendering that runs through the site doubles as the mark on the back, so the card is legible as Open Dollar without carrying the logo twice.

Non-Fungible Vaults

We created a new primitive: by using NFTs as proxies for locked collateral, vaults became transferable and no longer tied to a single account — so a vault could be sold on any NFT marketplace, not just through our own interface. To show what one is worth without the buyer having to trust a listing, the NFT itself is an interactive SVG that draws its contents, parameters and current risk level. Being an image, it works anywhere an NFT does.

Landing Page

Written for the two questions someone lands with — what does it do with my tokens, and what happens if the market moves — with the vault-as-NFT argument made on the page rather than buried in the docs.

The Open Dollar pre-launch landing page — “Unlock the value of your tokens” over a fluid colour rendering, with multi-collateral, vaults-as-NFTs and rewards explained alongside
opendollar.com at pre-launch — the positioning line, the four things that make it different, and a mailing-list sign-up, on one screen.
